A Group known as Accountability Lab Nigeria has called for strategic solutions to the challenge of corruption militating against the development of the nation.

 

The group made the call at a press conference tagged 2019/2020 edition of engaging talented young Nigerian musicians, held in Abuja.

 

Country Director of Accountability Lab Nigeria, Friday Odeh, described corruption as a critical problem facing the country and stifling growth and development.

 

According to him, ‘Nigeria continues to suffer from entrenched challenges around accountability and citizens remain political spectators of poor Governance due to inadequate representation”.

 

Stressing that the organization is pushing for accountability and transparency in governance, the group advocated for women and youth to be given greater participation in the country’s political space so as to create a unified voice for an inclusive and fair society.

The group also seized the opportunity to announce its initiative that provides a platform for renowned musicians to mentor young and upcoming ones on how to make songs that addresses democracy and good governance.

 

Emphasizing that music addresses key challenges among Nigerians, the Executive Director,  Hamzad Lawal explained that the initiative would establish a platform through which artists can build alliances and collaborate to foster accountability in Nigeria.

 

He, however, noted that the process would enable young music artists to submit their songs, freestyles, and videos addressing any social issues affecting Nigeria. This he quickly added could be done through the project website www. voice2rep.ng. and hashtags of Voice2Rep on social media.

 

Other members of the group who also spoke at the forum include Prince Chimaroke, Omoji Adaji, and Samuel Emenogu.
