Tanaka Ects Chuma is a 26-year-old songwriter, recording dub poet, musician, and guitarist. His art resides in the intersection of spoken word, traditional music, and hip hop, showcasing his versatility and ongoing artistic journey.
Tanaka has released three studio albums to date: “Ndabuda Mugaba,” “Chomunzira Famba,” and “Seiko Chahunga.” Notably, “Ndabuda Mugaba” received a special mention at the NAMA 2019 awards, while “Chomunzira Famba” was nominated for Best Outstanding Spoken Word Artist at the NAMA 2020 edition. Additionally, he has been a three-time nominee for the Ignite Youth Creative Arts Category Award, among other recognitions.
Since 2014, Tanaka has performed at numerous platforms, including a second-place finish at the Lafarge Poetry Slam in 2018 and a top-10 finalist position in the Start Brite competition in 2016. His captivating performances have resonated with diverse audiences, and he continues to make his mark in the industry. Recently, he released his latest album titled “Zvinotevera Tanaka” in 2023.
